Mississippi Coast (besides its being named one of the Top Ten Small Beach Towns in the
Country by Coastal Living Magazine 2010), Bay St. Louis will roll out the fun and great
live music at the city’s annual Bay Bridgefest, to be held Sept. 12-13 this year.
Bridgefest fills the Bay’s brand-new Municipal Harbor with a lineup of national and
regional bands including Flathead Ford, Rochelle Harper Band, The Iguanas, and the Joe
Krown Trio with Walter "Wolfman” Washington and Russell Batiste. Headlining the
show will be the North Mississippi Allstars.
The fun kicks off on Friday night with a 5K run and free concert from 7 til 10:30 p.m. On
Saturday, there will be a triathlon in the morning and music from 7-11 p.m (admission
charged). The event is held in conjunction with the city’s monthly 2nd Saturday ArtWalk,
so you can spend the afternoon (from 4 til 8 p.m.) browsing the downtown shops and
local art for sale – with potters, painters, and artisans of myriad description, you never
know what treasures you’ll find. Then make a night of it as the bands get the party started
at 7 p.m. and keep it going till 11 p.m.
For details on the 5K and triathlon, go to BayBridgeFest.org or call (228) 493-7287.
You can register at active.com. You can also catch updates on Facebook and Twitter.
You’ll see why this event was named the 2012 Large Event of the Year by the
Mississippi Tourism Association and what it made it entertaining enough to win the AAA
Southern Travel Treasure Award in 2012. You can make a day or whole weekend of it
for the whole family.
